Peter Balerin, the man who has restored the lost prestige of the US embassy in Cameroon, is currently being assailed on all sides for speaking the truth . His predecessor spoke in tongues, but the new US Diplomat is light years from his predecessor . Peter Balerin has ruffled feathers on both sides of the Mungo because of his frank way of looking or addressing the current affairs of Cameroon .
And sincerely speaking, this country is on the brink of implosion, if it hasn’t already. When he accused the Southern Cameroonian diaspora of fueling the current crisis with hate speeches, the Anglophones or Southern Cameroonian armed groups and none armed groups, went gaga. He was rained with insults and all kinds of insinuations.
The anger of some Anglophones could be understood because, it was the same United States embassy who in 1986 released a forecast on the bleak future of Cameroon, especially because of the leadership of a central government that seems to ignore the simmering tension gripping former West Cameroon. Things were apparently calm before because of disunity and more importantly, absence of leadership. Currently, Anglophone Cameroon is awashed with leaders and that doesn’t spell well for the future of Cameroon, if Yaounde doesn’t put aside their stupid arrogance, which is in fact ignorance.
But whether we like the utterances of the US ambassador or not on the role played by the Anglophone diaspora, he was correct. It also shows that, no lasting peace can be achieved without the Anglophone diaspora getting involved. Currently, Mr Balerin, has picked up a new fight and he is being called names by fanatics of the regime, because again, he spoke the truth by advising Paul Biya to think about his legacy.
What is some how shocking is that, when the US government was providing military training to Cameroon’s elite security forces or Rapid Intervention Brigade otherwise known as BIR , all those now calling the US and its ambassador names, were full of praise. They ignored the monumental abuses carried out by BIR elements in Anglophone Cameroon.
The US government, even recently gave two unarmed Cessna surveillance planes to Cameroon, as its contribution in the fight against terrorism, there wasn’t any out cry, until the ambassador said the planes won’t be used in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon.
Fantastics of the regime, some of whom have excelled elsewhere in plagiarism and only discovered that they were Cameroonians when they were rejected in their countries of adoption, must know, the US is a true friend of Cameroon and any honest friend must tell the truth.
The US knows pretty well that Cameroon is on the brink of disintegration and they want to salvage her and one way will be for Paul Biya to step down.
If there’s this outpouring hate against the US ambassador, it is simply because, the US government through its former ambassador was speaking at both ends of the mouth or were ambivalent. And in doing so, sending mixed messages to Yaounde. Now , Yaounde is shocked.
If am not wrong, it’s perhaps the first time since 1991, that a US ambassador has attracted such bashing from the Yaounde regime and its supporters because of his utterances. Speaking as he spoke , means, there’s fire on the mountain and its partly explains why, all fanatics at home and abroad have been called to the rescue. The reality is that, they shall not be held any elections in Cameroon if the Anglophone crisis is not solved or addressed and Biya must think twice. He has two options: leave a befitting legacy or become second Mobutu.

Here it comes, lectures, lessons, and advice to the US ambassador to Cameroun. He should note that China the biggest and strongest economy in the world thinks that Pual Biya is real Cameroun god. They also postulate that teh Ambassador will be invited in eth foreign office to explain what he meant about Biya. We’ll see
